About this Event
Welcome to the Crochet Coral Club!
Starting in January 2025, OPAL invites the community to monthly meet-ups to create coral shaped forms out of crocheted plastic.
The meetings will be a time to learn techniques as well as facts about plastic impacts on the environment and to commune with fellow artists and help build something bigger. The goal of the project is to create numerous and varied coral forms and install them as a focal point in our July exhibit, SPIRALING, which is an eco-art themed show inviting artists to upcycle materials, particularly plastics. Patterns to work from and coaching support will be offered at the meetings
Opportunities for kids to learn crochet and fiber techniques will be offered through our twice monthly Family Starts program and they can add to the installation as well.
