Crochet a Blanket: Baby, Throw, or Lap

Now that you know how to start crocheting, let's expand your stitch knowledge with some tall stitches to make a blanket quicker and it'll also feel lighter.
In this class we’ll create a custom designed blanket by YOU. We'll talk about increases and decreases to create a ripple or chevron pattern while also learning the half-double and double crochet stitches.
Bring your own crochet hook and yarns (approx. 3+ skeins) of your choice. Be sure to bring at least one hook that matches the recommended size on the yarn label that you're bringing. You can also bring a few hooks near that size (one larger and one smaller) so we can try out the best one for your stitch tension.
With your chosen yarns and hook, you'll pick your preferred size (baby blanket, lap blanket, or throw blanket) and we’ll have you crocheting and designing your very own blanket - complete with writing your own pattern.
Mandatory: MUST have taken an Intro to Crochet class at 577 to participate.
Please Note:
• Participants ages 7 to 15 are welcome but must be accompanied by a registered adult/guardian.
• Participants ages 16 to 17 may participate without an adult.

Community Instructor: Annie Johnson
Annie grew up in an arts & crafts household, learning to crochet at 7 and knit at 14. She has honed most of her knowledge through trial and error, observation, and decades of repetition. She has been teaching for over 10 years and loves to share the joy of fiber crafts with anyone interested, from preschool to retired. Her favorite parts of teaching are witnessing a student's ah-ha moment and seeing them explore the hobby in their own way.
