About this Event
In this heartwarming and poignant story, a girl and her grandfather share a love beyond words, for fans of When Lola Visits and Holding On. Come join local Filipino American author Cristina Oxtra as she celebrates the launch of her debut picture book, What Lolo Wants! It is a heartwarming story dedicated to her grandfather, her Lolo, who taught her how to draw. Enjoy a reading of the book, art activity, Q&A, book signing, and Filipino treats.
To attend: This event is open to the public, but registration helps us when considering spatial constraints. You can register for a ticket for free using the button to the right through October 5, 3:00pm, and preorder the book at the bottom of this page. Additional copies of What Lolo Wants will be available for purchase during the event, but preordering guarantees your copy.
Signing Guidelines: Following the event, Cristina Oxtra will sign and personalize copies of his books. If you would prefer not to stay for the signing portion, Red Balloon can have your books signed and personalized for you and will contact you when they're ready to be picked up.

Cristina Oxtra is an educator and the author of many books for young readers, including Tara and the Towering Wave, Keep Dancing and Tae Kwon Do Test. She holds a master of fine arts in creative writing for children and young adults. Born and raised in the Philippines, she now lives with her family in Minnesota.
