Step into Crisps Lane, a narrow Nelson alley where humour, chaos, and city life collide. What begins as a live broadcast quickly becomes something far more unpredictable.
This one-woman show unfolds as a show-within-a-show, slipping between Nelson, New York, and Los Angeles, stitched together through memory, sound, and sharp observation. The result is a fast-moving, darkly funny exploration of a life lived loudly, restlessly, and without apology.
At its centre is a woman on air — trying to keep the broadcast together as technical hiccups mount and interruptions creep in. What should be polished begins to fracture, and in those cracks, the real story emerges. As control loosens, reality glitches, and the boundaries between performance, confession, and memory blur. New York’s urgency, Los Angeles’ illusions, and Nelson’s quiet intimacy collide, revealing how place shapes us, challenges us, and sometimes refuses to let us go.
Each city leaves its mark, echoing through the soundscape and the storytelling. Just around the corner, the brothel hums quietly — not as spectacle, but as presence. It serves as a reminder that every street, no matter how ordinary it seems, holds layers of history, desire, and contradiction. Fearless in its honesty, this is storytelling that doesn’t tidy itself up for comfort.
Fast, intimate, and disarmingly human, nothing is off limits. Crisps Lane grabs the audience and refuses to let go. It’s about creativity under pressure, about starting again when the rules keep changing, and about finding meaning in the noise. Crisps Lane isn’t just a performance. It’s a live unraveling. A love letter to reinvention. And an invitation to listen closely — because the most extraordinary stories are often hiding in the narrowest lanes.
