About this Event
A mental health crisis is extremely distressing for individuals experiencing mental illness and creates unique challenges for those who provide crisis intervention services. In situations where reality is in question for some, order and calm can be restored. Effective communication, self-awareness, and compassion are the cornerstones to working through mental health crisis situations and providing the needed support. Participants will discuss best practices for restoring calm and working with community partners to ensure mutual safety when a mental health crisis occurs.
Captain Carl Pendleton has been a Crisis Intervention Team Officer and Instructor with the Norman Police Department for 13 years. He has a passion for training and assisting those who have a heart for the success of others.
