About this Event

U.K. supergroup and progressive post-rock musical collective Crippled Black Phoenix have featured nearly 30 members in their rotating roster. A constant driving force is Justin Greaves of Electric Wizard and Iron Monkey, who started the band in 2004 with the help of Mogwai bassist Dominic Aitchison.

In 2006, Crippled Black Phoenix released their first album, A Love of Shared Disasters, and started concentrating on live shows that often involved more than a dozen members on-stage. Resurrectionists and Night Raider were recorded from March of 2007 to August of 2008 at S.O.A. Studio in Bristol, and released in 2009, along with a compilation of songs from those two albums titled 200 Tons of Bad Luck.

Arriving in 2010, I, Vigilante followed on Geoff Barrow's Invada Records, and sparked some attention with a stoner rock version of Journey's "Of a Lifetime." The more conceptual (Mankind) The Crafty Ape was released in 2012, and Greaves and company followed that up with the 2013 live album Live Poznań and 2014's White Light Generator.

The year 2014 also saw the release of Fall, the debut album from Greaves and Belinda Kordic's Se Delan side project. Crippled Black Phoenix released their sixth full-length outing, Bronze, in 2016 via the French extreme metal imprint Season of Mist. That same year also saw Se Delan issue their sophomore LP, Drifter.

The Horrific Honorifics EP arrived in 2017. A collection of cover versions, it showcased the band's eclectic range of influences with tracks by the likes of Swans, NoMeansNo, and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Their second Season of Mist full-length, Great Escape, arrived in 2018, preceded by the epic nine-minute single "To You I Give."
