About this Event
In the context of rising global increases in the availability, supply and use of crystal methamphetamine or ‘ice’, there is increased policy attention locally globally about the need for new and better policy responses to this drug. This event brings together an expert line up to discuss the new challenges and potential policy responses in Australia and the Asia Pacific.
Speakers:
Jeremy Douglas (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) - Trends in Amphetamine Type Substances (ATS) in the Asia Pacific.
Caitlin Hughes (CCPR, Flinders University) - Methamphetamine supply, use and access to services in regional South Australia
Mark Halsey (CCPR, Flinders University) - Onset and desistance from methamphetamine use amongst young people engaged in criminal behaviour
Followed by a Q & A panel including speakers and panellists:
- Dan Howard (Former Commissioner NSW Special Commission of Inquiry into Ice),
- Marina Bowshall (State Director, Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia, SA Health),
- Scott Wilson (Director, Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol Council - SA)
