Presented by Ross Shrigley
Ross's passion for horticulture and gardening began at Colorado State University. He earned his Biological Science degree in 1994 and went on to purchase a small gardening business that he ran and operated for seven years. In 2004, Ross spent time in the field as a groundskeeper for the CSU Facilities Department. He then jumped over to Denver Botanic Gardens where he managed the O'Fallon Perennial Border, Dwarf Conifer Berm, Ornamental Grass Garden, and the Mordecai Children's Garden. Ross organized and managed volunteers and worked hard becoming a Senior Horticulturist for his seven years at DBG. In 2012, the long daily commute took its toll, and Ross accepted a position closer to home with Fort Collins Wholesale Nursery serving as their Outside Sales Representative. In 2022, Ross is a seasoned gardener with a breadth and depth of experience in the world of horticulture. He now serves as the Executive Director of Plant Select®- a nonprofit collaboration of Colorado State University, Denver Botanic Gardens, and professional horticulturists. Additional certifications that round out Ross's portfolio include becoming an Irrigation Auditor in 2005, a CNGA Certified Nursery Professional #652, and, most recently, earning his Sustainable Landscape Management Certification through ALCC in 2019. Ross innovates and sees where applications are needed and even invents new garden industry tools like his RAINcane watering wand, which is still in circulation today. Ross is honored to be part of the Plant Select® legacy and brings his creativity, excitement, dedication, and knowledge to help others garden with confidence.
