About this Event
Just in time for spooky season, join us for DIY CREEPY POPPET WORKSHOP! Whether you're new to crafting, a seasoned professional, or just enjoying the fall vibes, creepy poppets are here for you! This 2 hour class will provide all materials, patterns, and guidence needed to bring your own custom felt poppet to life, so just grab yourself, some friends, and your deepest, darkest secrets, and come out to make a special felt creature to take home with you!
These cute and creepy poppets can be a pocket-sized pal, a dangling car charm, a gift for yourself or a friend, or just a repository of your secrets. Empty headed and silent, these poppets promise to protect your bottled-up secrets with their lives, and never breath a word of what they know to anyone. (Alternately, you can give them your hopes and dreams, and they'll do just as well guarding those for you). Look into their blank, vacous eyes, and pick one to bring to life!
**Please note this class uses 100% merino wool felt and 100% cotton stuffing. If you have an allergy, please reach out to CCM PRIOR to the class and the instructor will coordinate with you to provide alternative materials.

This class will run 2 hours and will be a guided step-by-step project class that walks you through the whole process of poppet creation, from designing and selecting your materials, to the final moment stitching your secrets into the poppet!
Class overview:
- Designing your poppet and selecting materials
- Patterning and cutting
- Writing and bottling up secrets! (Or hopes and dreams)
- Details, decorations, and embellishments - giving your poppet personality!
- Stitching up the poppet
Multiple options for poppet patterns and personality embellishments will be provided, but you're also welcome to go outside the box and be as creative as you want! Extra paper will be provided for sketching and planning, and makers will go home with a custom-made poppet (final dimensions are around 3.5-4in wide by 5.5-6 inches tall).

Hi, I’m Steph! I'm one of the Fab Lab capains at CCM, and I’ve been an artist and maker my whole life. I specialize in ceramics, painting, pattern drafting, design, and leather working, though I'm very much a "collect them all" kind of person when it comes to creative skills. I particularily love the puzzle of solving design problems, and like to mix and match tools, mediums, and materials to achieve the desired result. I recently moved to CO from Boston, and am excited to spend more time outside and hike all the good trails. When I’m not at CCM, you can find me in the ceramics studio or in the garden with the cats.
