Return to Wittenberg's ninth annual conference, Credo, will celebrate the septendecimcentennial (1700th anniversary!) of the Nicene Creed. Convened by the Roman Emperor St. Constantine the Great and attended by over 200 bishops (traditionally 318), the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea famously dealt a decisive blow against the heresy of Arianism, most notably in the production of the prototype of the Nicene Creed confessed by all Christian Churches today. The stalwart defense of the faith at Nicaea has manifold implications for the Church of 2025.
This year's keynote presenters are WELS Pastors Erik Alair and Benjamin Phelps and WELS Teacher Joshua Nelson. Our venue and gracious host is the beautiful Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha, WI. We invite you to enjoy a weekend of spiritual edification, authentic Lutheran worship, and fellowship with Christians from throughout the WELS and ELS.
This year's Conference will once again be preceded by a pre-Conference Seminar beginning Thursday morning. The Seminar provides attendees an opportunity to dive more deeply into the conference theme with selected readings from the Bible, the Church Fathers, the Liturgy, and the Literature. We invite you to consider joining us for this exclusive opportunity for fellowship, growth, and edification!
Also returning this year is a Worship Workshop, which will kick off our plenary Conference on Friday afternoon. Although this session is geared toward those who are involved with leading, planning, and serving in worship, all Conference attendees are welcome to attend. The session will focus on how to best use our Synodical worship resources (the *Christian Worship* suite) to create a rhythm of Biblical worship in the pattern of our Lutheran forefathers.
We are also pleased to announce the continuation of the Adolf Hoenecke Scholarship Fund! Thanks to a generous donation, we are happy to offer FREE ATTENDANCE to any WELS or ELS Seminary students. The fund will also supplement any pastor whose congregation is unable to support their attendance due to small size or reasonable budgetary issues. Please select the "Hoenecke Scholarship" option at registration to apply. (Please note: The Scholarship does not apply to the Pre-Conference Seminar.)
Please visit our website (https://www.returntowittenberg.org/r2w-2025-conference/) for more information. We hope you will join us for this monumental anniversary in the history of the Christian Church!
