After being trapped in ice for millions of years, a giant praying mantis awakens and attacks a DEW Line station. Military personnel and paleontologist teams must work together as the mantis moves south to stop the insect terror. The Atomic Age inspired many “creature features”- science fiction movies about the imagined effects of nuclear radiation on animals. These movies reflect the fear and fascination that audiences had regarding the use of atomic weapons. $10; $5 for museum members.
Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Cold War to the Cosmos: Distant Early Warning Systems and the Arctic, now on view.
6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the Auditorium
