Erik Lasky is an American Figurative and self-identified ‘Kitsch Painter’. Themes in his work are generally narrative or allegorical depictions of people, places or objects. In his work, he offers a direct challenge to the ideology found in Conceptual or Modern Art, choosing instead to focus on realistic depictions that convey notions of melancholy, sentimentality, and emotional ambivalence.
