Learn the craft and business of writing with local author Crystal Jackson. Sessions will be held on Tuesday afternoons and will have a unique focus. Sessions will explore writing rules, blogging, personal essay, content writing, poetry, magazine and newspaper journalism, short stories, non-fiction, fiction, and more. Guest speakers will be brought in for news and screenwriting. Students must be between the ages of 14 and 18. Classes will be held on Tuesday afternoons at the Center from 3:30-4:30pm.
There will be three sessions:
Session 1:
September 2, 9, 16, 23
•introduction to the art and business of writing, blogging, personal essay, & poetry
Session 2:
September 30, October 14, 21, 28
•poetry, magazine and newspaper journalism, short story, & non-fiction
Session 3:
November 4, 11, 18, December 2
•fiction writing, guest speakers
*Students will have the ability to sign up for monthly sessions ($60/member, $80/non-member) or can pay a drop-in rate of $25 for individual sessions. Virtual classes will be available via GoogleMeet.
