The Black Horse Poets and Wakefield Word will be hosting this fantastic free writing workshop, delving into some of the amazing showcases which took place at the 1933 Pageant.Would you like to have a go at writing a poem about the battle of Wakefield, or a Wakefield-themed haiku?
Reimagine a main character from the pageant in a fun and creative way.
All levels and experience welcome.

The workshop will be in the Pontefract Suite, on the lower ground floor of the Wakefield One building. Ask the Wakefield Museum staff if you need help finding the Pontefract Suite.
This workshop is part of the Performance and Pageantry event on Saturday 9 November. On this day there will also be drop-in family crafts (11am - 3pm) and spoken word performances (11.15am - 12 noon and 2.15pm - 3.15pm).
About the workshop leaders
Colin Hollis
Colin was brought up in Featherstone, West Yorkshire, obtaining a physics degree at Sheffield University before a career as a teacher in Wakefield, and now retired. He is secretary of Black Horse Poets and Wakefield Word and has written two novels, but particularly enjoys writing short stories of relationships, of friendships, of falling in and out of love, of chance encounters with consequences significant or everlasting. Simple events around which lives are woven.
Lindsey Marie
Lindsey Marie was also brought up in Featherstone, West Yorkshire and is an independent fiction novelist, poet, sketcher, geek, and dedicated bookworm. She has had work published in magazines and online, and published one novel, Blackwood. Her latest poetry is currently displayed at the Wakefield Health Museum. Her career began in Journalism, writing for regional newspapers before moving into PR. When she is not reading or writing, she also leads the communications for the Black Horse Poets Society and Wakefield Word, and Wakefield Chess Club.
