Explore the Italian Garden unearthing its story and our response to it in words and pictures...Join us in the beautiful Italian Garden at Great Ambrook. Created by Arthur Smith Graham in 1912 this beautiful secret garden is steeped in history. We will explore the garden unearthing its story and our response to it in words and pictures.
The sensitive restoration of the garden is gradually revealing what has been concealed, peeling back the layers of time. The history, structures, planting and wildlife in the garden will inspire prompts to guide our session as we move through the garden.
Everyone is welcome and no experience is required. We will bring clip boards, paper, pens and pencils but feel free to bring your own material too, you might want to bring a notebook, a sketchbook, and paints or crayons, anything light enough to carry as we walk.
At the end of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to share some of your writing if you wish and your images of the garden, weather and time permitting we can even have a mini exhibition!
Your facilitators will be Zo Copeland, Creative writer and poet and Frances Mason, an illustrator whose MA Illustration project was based on the Garden.
Wear clothing suited to the weather, with sturdy flat shoes, and bring water if needed. Free on-site car parking and a toilet is available.
