Creative Thinkers: ART + REGENERATION

Two artists and two regeneration experts talk about the space in between us, art and the land, and what regeneration can look - and be - like. With artists Nick Greenall and Becky Nunes, Leadership Coach and Nature’s Blueprint founder Annie Lee and Kate Roberts, soil and health expert.
Becky Nunes
Becky is a lens-based artist and educator who asks how photography can be useful in this precarious era of climate crisis and social injustice. Having recently relocated to the UK following many years in Aotearoa-New Zealand, her practice is scaffolded upon the building of alliances with indigeneity, collaborative and Kaupapa Maori methodologies, and thinks about the problematic and complicated nature of land use, resource extraction and the amplification of marginalised and polyphonic voices. Her art uses archival material alongside her own moving image & still photography, and her images have been awarded, published & exhibited locally and internationally. Nunes is a founder member of Tangent Collective (Aotearoa) and creative partner at 35a (UK).

Nick Greenall
Nick Greenall has worked in public engagement and community art projects for many years.
From a background in film & TV work, he has expanded to multiple art forms. He particularly enjoys collaborations, working with artists of all disciplines and more recently scientists.
Interested in expressing sometimes complex ideas in an accessible way. He founded a science festival on a lake (Windermere Science Festival), which is now in its 4th year.
Recently working as arts collective "Creative Communities" on the legacy of the illegally felled "Sycamore Gap Tree" project, with long time collaborator Charlie Whinney.

Annie Lee
Founder of Nature’s Blueprint, Annie is a master at creating space for people to find and work their magic. She has a background in agriculture & adult education & has a passion for empowering people to see life through fresh eyes. She is a coach & facilitator known for both her warmth & her challenge, who leans into the use of Positive Psychology & nature connection within her work. Through Nature’s Blueprint, she empowers individuals to reconnect with being part of the natural world, finding innovative and impactful solutions to today’s pressing challenges. Her core interest lies in exploring the deep interconnections between ecological, societal, mental, and physical health, and in challenging the structures that stand in the way of meaningful change.

Kate Roberts

Their focus is on helping regenerate the soil by doing research pertinent to the climate and biome of Cumbria, alongside the science of the sea, and the connection between our microbiome and our physical and mental health.
