Creative Sundays Workshop Outline:• Duration: Four consecutive Sundays
• Time: 3 hours per session 12-3 pm
• Focus: Canvas, mixed media, collage, and drawing techniques
Week 1: Canvas and Mixed Media Exploration
• Objective: Experiment with textures and materials to create an abstract piece.
• Project: Create an abstract work using acrylic paint, fabrics, and found objects.
• Focus: Layering techniques, blending colors, and incorporating tactile elements.
• Materials Needed: Canvases, acrylic paints, brushes, sponges, fabrics, glue, and various found objects.
Week 2: Collage Storytelling - Visual Diary
• Objective: Create a visual diary using collage techniques to express personal thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
• Project: Participants will craft a small, handmade collage book, or “visual diary,” using materials like cardboard, newsprint, and paper bags. Each page will reflect different aspects of their daily life, emotions, or creative ideas, blending text and imagery.
• Focus: Personal expression, composition, and layering of mixed materials.
• Materials Needed: Cardboard (for covers), newsprint, paper bags, assorted decorative papers, glue sticks, scissors, string or staples for binding, and additional elements like markers, paints, or magazine cutouts for detailing.
Week 3: Freeform Drawing and Mark Making
• Objective: Explore expressive mark-making using a variety of drawing tools.
• Project: Create dynamic, expressive drawings using charcoal, pastels, and ink.
• Focus: Line variation, shading, and incorporating emotion into both abstract and representational drawings.
• Materials Needed: Charcoal, pastels, inks, brushes, drawing paper, smudge tools, and fixatives.
Week 4: Partner Canvas Collaboration
• Objective: Collaborate with a partner to create two mixed-media canvases.
• Project: Each pair works together on two canvases, blending collage, drawing, and painting techniques. After completion, each person will take home one canvas.
• Focus: Creative collaboration, blending styles, and teamwork.
• Materials Needed: Canvases (two per pair), acrylic paints, brushes, mixed media supplies (collage materials, fabric, found objects, etc.), glue, and drawing tools.

$125 per person for non members of the LAS
$90 per pp for Members of the LAS
What to bring- All materials provided however please try to bring some magazines, newspapers
