Celebrate the process of stitching and create your own unique decorative textile item. This workshop is a great way to find out about different hand embroidery and embellishment techniques. Learn about different methods including Japanese sashiko and boro, plus other traditional embroidery stitches. Participants will create a small decorative item (fish, bird, star, heart) from felt or other fabrics such as cotton and linen.
A variety of fabrics, lace, buttons and threads will be available for you to chose from, and all necessary equipment will be provided. If you have any particular fabric you want to use, or if you have your own needlework kit, please feel free to bring it along.
This two hour workshop is a great opportunity to enjoy handmade processes in a relaxed environment with other like minded fun creatives while learning how to continue traditional crafts and learn skills for future projects. The workshop celebrates the process of stitching and creating unique items rather than focusing on perfect results.
No prior skills are needed, beginners are very welcome.
