RACINE_ Spectrum Gallery, located in the East Building of the DeKoven Center, across from Lake Michigan, Racine, announces its annual Arts Retreat, Creative Space, from October 24th – 27th.Creative Space invites people involved in visual, literary, musical, dance and more arts areas to escape the busyness of life and allow time and space to pursue their work in an inspirational and supportive environment. Surrounded by acres of woods, panoramic views of Lake Michigan and the Neo-Gothic architecture of the DeKoven Center, participants may draw inspiration from the quiet beauty and like-minded individuals. “Creative Spacers” can choose to stay on campus in the DeKoven Center’s Taylor Hall, Air BnBs on site and nearby or commute daily from home. Workspaces include designated rooms in Taylor Hall or in Spectrum’s studios for drawing, painting, ceramics, darkroom photography, writing or music. An exclusive journal/sketchbook making workshop is also offered on Saturday, October 26. The vistas are spectacular, and participants are encouraged to explore and enjoy the grounds, weather permitting. Prices for single, double rooms and for commuters are affordable and meals are included. Spectrum Gallery, 2000 Wisconsin Ave., Racine, is the city’s longest operating cooperative arts gallery. As a non-profit organization and alternative community gallery, Spectrum is dedicated to helping artists by showcasing them in a non-judgmental space, empowering each artist to choose their own work for exhibition.
