About the instructor

Teresa Cuevas is a dance and fitness educator from Brooklyn, New York. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College in Dance Education. She received her Master of Arts degree in Gerontology in 2023 and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Throughout her career in education, she has had the opportunity to teach all ages and abilities- including special needs in school, studio, recreation, and fitness facilities. Teresa currently teaches classes for individuals living with dementia at Queens Community House. Many of her classes are held via Zoom.

Teresa’s philosophy on fitness education stems not only from her fitness training and dance background but also her extensive education in Anatomy, Kinesiology, and Neurology research. Her certifications include Exude Personal Fitness, Science of Exercise, Healing as Art, Physical Therapy Aid, Diet and Nutrition, SAIL, CPR/AED, and Tai Chi for Arthritis.

Creative movement is part of our High Line Wellness programming, designed specifically with older adults in mind. Adults of any age are invited to join the High Line to learn, move, have fun, and connect with neighbors. Wellness activities, educational sessions, cultural engagements, and other events are offered on and near the park, in collaboration with local community-based organizations that serve older adults in Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, and on the West Side of Manhattan.
