About this Event
Are you looking for a fun and creative activity for your child after school? Creative Minds sessions 5 and 6 are now available for registration!
Creative Minds focuses on exposing students to different forms of art and providing space to explore interesting topics! Each session is unique and teachers rotate to give students an opportunity to learn from a variety of artists!
The program is coordinated by Jena. Jena is the Arts Education Coordinator at the Burncoat Center for Arts and Wellness, a School Psychologist working in the public schools, and a mom of 2. In her spare time, she is a stained glass artist and sings in an a cappella group! Jena loves working with kids and finding new crafts to explore!
Creative Minds takes place after school on Tuesdays. The classes run from 3:00-4:30 with drop off beginning at 2:30.
A registration form will be emailed to any new students to provide teachers with more information about your students and their needs prior to class beginning. Please be aware that the email will be from [email protected]. These emails occasionally are sent directly to spam folders.
Session 5: Story Book Creation
In this class, the students will create their own children's book. We will explore what makes characters interesting, talk about plot design and story arches. We will be putting focus on telling stories through pictures (for those students who don't want to write after school hours) and each student will leave the session with their own book! This class will be taught by Jena and Shannon.
Session 6: Little Spark Theater Creative Drama
Join us for high-energy, imaginative, zany, silly, and super fun theater games focusing on senses and feelings! Children build confident, social awareness, empathy, and problem-solving skills. This is social/emotional learning at its best! Little Spark Theater is run by Ali.
Ali is a certified theater teacher, English teacher, and theatrical director with a passion for education. She spent 13 years in traditional classroom settings teaching both theater and English before deciding to find her own path in education!
Families who sign up for both sessions save 10%!
