Come along with us for a day of celebrating creativity and heritage at WoWFEST24!
About this Event

WoW’s acclaimed Creative Heritage Programmes works with communities to explore, preserve and promote marginalised histories. For over a decade now our Creative Heritage Project has collaborated with archivists, museums, libraries and participants, to uncover lost voices and hidden histories of little-known figures and events of significance to the development of diverse working-class cultures in Liverpool and beyond!

Our work, including our recent archive project celebrating Liverpool born black activist and educator, Dorothy Kuya, was recently celebrated as one of ten projects from around the country published in the National Archives annual review of projects – A Year in Archives 2023

Creative Heritage Day at WoWFEST24 will showcase WoW’s highly successful projects including the George Garrett archive, Great War to Race Riots, L8 Archive Project, and the Dorothy Kuya archive project.

On display will be copies of archive material from each of our projects, as well as artworks and our heritage bookstall. Guests will also be able to experience our Creative Heritage ‘living library’, where they can chat to specialists about each of our projects, as well as Creative Heritage activities for children.

The event will feature special guests and a panel discussion about the importance of community in the preservation of heritage and in presenting a more complete history of Britain and beyond.
