In 2024, ECC’s Cultural Development Service commissioned Creative Lives, a leading charity and advocacy group for creative activity to undertake a report which looked at the potential of arts and creativity to contribute to health and wellbeing outcomes in Essex.

The launch of the Mapping Creative Health in Essex report follows the publication of the recent Culture And Heritage Capital: Monetising the Impact of Culture and Heritage on Health and Wellbeing study which was undertaken by Frontier Economics for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in November, and which emphasises the significant economic value of culture and heritage, highlighting how investments in these areas can lead to substantial returns in terms of health and wellbeing.
