About this Event
When artists meet, we are changed. And when we change the artist, we change the art form.
Telluride Science, Telluride Foundation, and SPARKy Productions present an evening with Youry, Co-Artistic Theater Director of the Wilma Theater in Philadelphia.
An internationally respected director, Yury's career spans Moscow, Europe, Africa, and the United States, with over 40 productions to his credit. A former Fulbright Scholar and company member of Woolly Mammoth Theatre, he serves as Associate Director of the Center for International Theater Development and has translated major American and Russian plays across languages. His work with the Center for Eastern European Theater has fostered creative exchange between American and European artists for decades.
This evening explores how artistic collaboration across borders transforms both artists and art forms—and how Eastern European theater continues to innovate despite political and economic challenges. Through conversation and video clips, discover the resilience of creative practice and the enduring power of collaboration in the arts.
The evening begins with a cocktail reception at 5 pm, followed by Yury's presentation from 5:30-6:30 pm. Afterward, guests are invited to linger over drinks and continue the conversation.
