Loss and bereavement touches us all at sometime during our lives and can be a difficult thing to cope with. Creative Conversations for Men is a free six-week course designed to help older men explore their thoughts and feelings on the subject in a non-judgmental safe space.
The sessions will give you the chance to connect with other men in a similar position. You will also have the chance to explore your thoughts and feelings about grief and loss.
When: Thursdays, 2.30 – 4.00pm from 24 October to 5 December (no session 31 October)
Where: the Local Studies Room (Frederick Wood Room), Weston-super-Mare Library, Walliscote Grove Road, BS23 1UJ
The course runs weekly for six sessions in total, including the introductory session on Thursday 24 October. You should be able to come to all six sessions to get the most out of the course. If you are no longer able to join us, please cancel your order to let someone else attend.
Who can come
The course is open to men aged 55 or over who live in Weston-super-Mare or North Somerset. If you are under 55, please email [email protected] before booking to discuss attendance.
About the venue
Weston Library has a ramp to the main entrance, automatic doors, an accessible toilet and baby changing. The event will be in the Local Studies library, a quieter room off the main library (access is through the main library). Weston Library will be open during the session but the local history room will be closed for the sessions.

Getting here
Weston Library is around a four minute level walk (approximately 0.2 miles) from the bus interchange in Alexandra Parade. Weston railway station is around a six minute level walk (approximately 0.3 miles) from the library. Parking, including disabled bays, is available in the Carlton Street, NCP Weston High Street, or Sovereign car parks.
About the course leader
Sessions are led by David Davies: David uses poetry, writing, and the spoken word with health and wellbeing services and arts organisations across the region. He has also worked as a feature maker for BBC Radio.
