Can universities and cultural leaders really change policy when they work together?
What difference does research make to the practicalities of running a cultural organisation?
Where do you start when you’re interested in collaborating?
Focused on the creative and cultural industries in the North West, this interactive session will connect researchers, industry, policy and business engagement teams to discuss the opportunities for, and challenges of, collaboration in research and knowledge exchange.
You will hear from Creative Manchester’s Creative Industries Deep Dive Aspect Project, which featured ‘deep dives’ exploring creative industries ‘best practice’ across Greater Manchester and Yorkshire and Humber regions. The research -produced in partnership with The University of Manchester and The University of York - explored how partnerships are established and supported, infrastructure engagement, language and outputs, as well as the impact of COVID on partnerships, including its effects on diversity in the sector. The project is supported by funding from Aspect, which seeks to draw together academics and industry leaders to address social challenges and to encourage and commercialise social science research.
Additional presentations from Manchester Camerata and Community Arts North West will highlight the challenges and impacts of collaborative work in practice.
The second part of the event will feature a panel discussion chaired by Dr Abi Gilmore, with input from
