About this Event

Shining a light on good things going on in your community--and things that could be made better--is more accessible than ever with smartphones and social media. In this two-hour class, content creator Hope Henchey will show you how to formulate ideas, write a script, film a video on your phone, edit it in CapCut, and post it on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc. By the end of this class, you'll have a meaningful, short-form video ready to go.

Come with a show-and-tell item that represents an idea that you think people would benefit from hearing about. Maybe it's a favorite book, a family heirloom, a plant you love, etc. If you can't think of anything, Hope will provide some prompts and ideas. And if you feel overwhelmed by the script-writing aspect and want to focus on learning how to film and edit, you can practice with a pre-written script, too.

The goal of this class is to make change-making feel like something anyone can do, because it is. Let's speak up and tell stories that make the world a better place!

Pre-requisites: Attendees must have an Instagram account and a free CapCut account, with both apps downloaded on their phone or tablet.

About the teacher:

Hope Henchey is a mom of five who started posting Instagram reels in 2024 about walkable cities, public transit, community, friendship, etc. After a year, she was able to create a career from content creation and she thoroughly enjoys bringing attention to good things going on around the country and specifically in her beloved city of Chattanooga. Every season she walks 100,000 steps in one day in a different city to highlight neighborhood connectivity and what cities are doing well (and what they can work on.) When she's not parenting or making videos, she's probably bopping around town on her bike visiting friends or planning her next cross-country train trip.
