This is the unveiling of a community art project centered around art from an ancient and overlooked material. Local gourd artist Rachel Pauli offered drop in sessions where participants created art from gourd shards using various media and techniques. When completed, she reassembled these works into a single, mosaiced piece of art that will be displayed publicly at the library representing the beauty, diversity and unity of our community and of all those that participated. Come learn about the community and history of the gourd and enjoy the art that we were all a part of creating. This is a 3 part series, February 1st and 8th dates are for creating the mosaic pieces with the final work being unveiled on the 22nd. All events will be held at the Winona public Library
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.
