This workshop is for ARCHS NHN Hub Sites to review their current intake process to ensure the client experience is trauma-informed.
About this Event

This workshop is brought to you by the ARCHS Neighborhood Healing Network (NHN). NHN is a multi-faceted ARCHS led collaboration between trusted area organizations known for their support of under resourced families and neighborhoods dealing with violence and trauma. Their shared vision is to increase and enhance support services for crime victims and victimized communities.

Session 1: The TIC Intake Process

Clients are often asked to share vulnerable information about themselves when engaging with a new service provider. This already anxiety-ridden experience can be complex when someone has previously experienced hurt, disappointment, or trauma as the result of a service provider or service organization. Furthermore, sharing vulnerable information has great potential to trigger past experiences of trauma – influencing how the individual may engage with the service provider and/or organization in the future. Ensuring that the intake process is trauma informed helps to minimize triggering, prioritize relationship-building, and heighten client engagement.

Participants will :

  • Examine their organization’s intake experience from initial entrance to introduction (unlike warm handoff, as we ensure that people aren't treated like objects) with their primary team.
  • Will be responsible for bringing all intake paperwork up-to-date (with the rationale for trimming unnecessary inquires for any assessments, questionnaires, or screenings ),
  • Have a mapped-out process flow for new clients, and identified the decision makers for potentially creating changes to the intake process.
  • We encourage Hub Sites to have multiple participants from their organization attending this 3-hour workshop.

Session 2: The Healing Circle

Service providers often find themselves giving so much of their energy, time, and emotional support to others that they neglect their own self-care. This class is tailored to address the specific challenges and stresses faced by those in caregiving, support, and service roles, empowering them to reclaim their own inner balance and build resilience in their personal and professional lives.

Please join us for an interactive and engaging discussion on understanding ways to begin your healing journey with a healing circle .The Healing Circle aims to be a transformative and supportive gathering designed for those who are seeking solace, rejuvenation, and personal growth.

As a result of this training, participants will:

  • Understand the nature of traumatic grief and individualized timelines for coping, processing and healing;
  • Learn about barriers that keep us stuck in our healing process; and
  • Explore strategies that support healing from traumatic grief
  • Participate in a healing circle with the goal of promoting healing, personal growth, and community building.

* There will be an hour break in between sessions for lunch. Lunch will be provided.

Please confirm that your e-mail address is correct before submitting your registration. If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation from Eventbrite (you may need to check your junk or spam folder).
