Creating a Self-Portrait
Throughout history, from Rembrandt to Van Gogh to Frida Kahlo, countless artists have explored themselves as subject matter in their art. This workshop will focus on methods for capturing both your likeness and personality with particular emphasis on the art technique known as chiaroscuro. We will begin the workshop with a photo session to capture your best image after which you will draw or paint your self-portrait from the photos.
Participants must provide their own materials, coming prepared to execute a finished artwork of at least 11 x 14 inches. Students may work in any drawing or painting medium including, but not limited to, graphite, colored pencil, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, oils, or collage.
Advanced registration is highly encouraged.
