Book before 1st March and take advantage of our Early Bird ticket prices!Climate change has made us all think about our impact on the planet - and what better place to start than making changes in your garden. This one-day workshop will:
Show you how to make sustainable plant feeds and fertilisers.
Grow green manures.
Source and use peat-free compost.
Use (and re-use) natural tools and resources.
Build resilience in your plant choices.
Course overview:
In our enthusiasm to get growing, gardening can become a resource intensive pastime that relies heavily on bagged compost, shop-bought fertilisers and plants that demand a lot of watering.
Our expert organic gardener, Dr Anton Rosenfeld, will talk you through ways to reduce your environmental footprint in your garden and become more resilient to weather extremes.
You'll learn ways to recycle garden materials and source from sustainable sources. Utilising our beautiful organic demonstration garden at Ryton, we’ll showcase different organic approaches to sustainable growing such as composting, soil care and the idea of 'right plant, right place'. We'll provide advice on your own personal growing aims, and help you build a healthier and more adaptable growing space.
This workshop will take place in our onsite classroom and garden with plenty of opportunity for discussion and a blend of practical outdoor and classroom-based activities. Refreshments and light lunch are included, and a set of notes and resources will be provided on the day.

Beginners/Intermediate
What to bring with you:
