Navajos are known for their beautiful and bright sand paintings. Sand paintings are not just a work of art; they were originally used to heal illnesses. Traditionally, the medicine man painted a sand painting in front of the home of somebody who was ill. The harmony in the sand painting was thought to promote healing.
