About this Event
A Connected Heritage Wikipedia Editathon
As part of the CREATE PLACE Leadership Programme, we invite you to join our Connected Heritage Wikipedia Editathon—a hands-on workshop designed to empower participants to contribute to the world’s largest free-content online encyclopaedia. Wikipedia is written and maintained by a global community of volunteers, and this session will introduce you to the essentials of editing, why it matters, and how you can get started.
This workshop reflects our commitment to placemaking, co-creation, and digital heritage. Together, we aim to enrich Wikipedia with more information about the cultural and heritage assets in our region, ensuring that local stories and histories are represented in the digital space. Participants will have the opportunity to focus on areas of personal or professional interest.
The session is suitable for both beginners and experienced editors. Please bring a laptop if possible, as you’ll need one to actively participate in editing. Further guidance and resources will be shared with all registered attendees.
