Create a Charcuterie Board & SpatulasInstructor: John Polly

Each student will shape and complete 3 wood spatulas and a charcuterie board using primarily hand tools from a variety of native species (walnut, cherry, and maple). The final finish will be traditional oil and wax. Students will be introduced to and use a variety of hand tools used by the early craftsmen to shape, measure, and form wood into useful items. At the completion of the class students will have an understanding of the techniques and methods of sharpening, maintaining, and using these tools.

Member Rate: $75
Non-Member Rate: $90
Material Fee: $25 paid directly to instructor

About the Instructor:
John specializes in revealing the inner beauty of wood. He operates his studio in Jacksboro, Tennessee. Most of John’s works are created from fallen, damaged or discarded trees. He collects, saws into lumber, dries and processes the wood for current and future work including tables, serving utensils, cabinetry, and other fine wood pieces. He uses hand tools as much as is practical during the processes. He has taught youth at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Local Schools, at Postmark Lafollette summer program, and individually in his studio.
