Chicago Dance Crash amplifies diverse artistic voices within the intersection of street dance, concert dance, and physical theater, allowing for new avenues of discovery and innovation in Chicago and on the global stage. The company’s fusion-style works and performing ensemble embodies our dedication to being an accessible and innovative dance company, creating intensely physical, authentic, and narrative-driven art.
Located in the heart of Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood, Chicago Dance Crash serves as a vital hub for street dance artists and communities rooted in Black cultural traditions. Our culturally competent, inclusive dance and physical theatre programs are designed to meet both artists and audiences where they are—offering meaningful access to the arts and professional artist development in a culturally responsive environment.
A two-time recipient of the Black Theater Alliance Award for Choreography, Crash’s impact extends beyond the stage. Recognized as a trailblazer by the Chicago Reader and Newcity Stage, the company has also been lauded for creating “The Most Inventive Work in the U.S.” by Dance Magazine. The heart of Crash lies in its eight-member Performance Ensemble and dedicated Artistic Associates. With passion for preserving the authenticity of black street dance art forms and sharing their knowledge with the greater dance community, these artists serve as ambassadors of street dance and storytelling throughout the Midwest.
