The City of Southport, in partnership with the Brunswick Arts Council, is excited to announce that the Fort Johnston–Southport Museum & Visitors’ Center is inviting local artists to apply for Crafting the American Story: Art, Identity, & History, an exhibition celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The exhibition will open February 21, 2026, at the Southport Community Building. Visitors can expect a range of artwork—from sculpture and handcrafts to graphic arts—that highlights local culture, resilience, and innovation. Each piece offers a unique perspective on history, inviting reflection, connection, and a deeper understanding of our shared American heritage.
Select works may also appear at partner locations across Brunswick County, extending the experience beyond Southport. Don’t miss this chance to see history interpreted through the imagination and talent of local artists!
