Whether you're a beginner looking to pen your first horror story or an experienced writer aiming to refine your skills, this workshop offers valuable insights into the elements that make horror writing uniquely compelling. You'll learn from examples set by literary giants and apply these lessons directly to your own work through interactive exercises and peer feedback.
Session one, totaling about 1.5 hours, will focus on diving into horror subgenres, atmospheric creations, and the art of setting the perfect scene.
Session two, totaling about 1.5 hours, will focus on developing unforgettable characters and gripping plots.
You'll gain a deep understanding of different horror genres, techniques to build suspense, personalized feedback from your peers and the workshop facilitator on your writing, and inspiration and tips from works by authors like Stephen King, Shirley Jackson, and Silvia Moreno-Garcia.
Pricing is $50 for both sessions. Note: Registration covers both dates, and it is essential to attend both sessions to gain the full benefits of the workshop.
