Craft Snippets is a way to learn about artisan crafts from enthusiasts and experts who love to share. This month we will hear from Ira Mitchell an artist who specialises in contemporary luxury art landscapes."My art is an abstraction of the monumental forms of nature, broad plains of colour, simplified but still recognisable in their simplest form and local colors.
I paint full time and travel regularly. I have a BFA in Design, a Diploma in Visual Communications and a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching.
As a child I felt out of place as an artist raised in a small rural town and couldn't imagine making a life around it, but it is possible and full of joy and adventure."
Come along to hear Ira talk about her art and after the talk we will look at craft books new to the library as well as chat about what is happening or coming up craft wise in and around Canterbury. We look forward to seeing you here.
