Learn to make fun and expressive art prints using recycled packaging as printing plates. No toxic acids or solvents are needed. In this beginner-friendly workshop, we will use an intaglio printing method to “draw” designs onto 2-3 printing plates with an etching needle or X-Acto knife. Participants will then ink up and run the plates through a portable press to create colorful art prints and note cards.• Turn recycled Tetra Pak boxes and plastic food containers into fast and fun printing plates.
• Learn all the basics of properly preparing the paper, marking and inking up the plates, aligning the plate correctly, and printing on a portable press.
• Learn tips for creating more complex prints by using different plate wiping techniques, adding spot color, and layering multiple plates.
