About this Event
Cracovian Artists for Independence Day
Witold Zalewski - organ
Anna Śliwa - violin
Hanna Zalewska - organ
We have an immense privilege to invite you to an organ concert, performed by Witold Zalewski, the first organist at the Cathedral of Royal Wawel Castle in Cracow, playing there at masses celebrated by the Pope John Paul II during his pilgrimages to Poland. Mr Zalewski will be accompanied by Anna Sliwa, specialising in solo and chamber repertoire of pieces of early music and Hanna Zalewska, a talented organ student, whose grant project involved presenting a range of organs in the city of Cracow. The programme will include music by Bronislaw Kazimierz Przybylski, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Dietrich Buxtehude, Mieczysław Surzyński, Jan Gawlas, Fryderyk Chopin, Michał Kleofas Ogiński and John Rutter. Thanks to a very generous financial support provided by the Polish Senate and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh, this memorable concert is free of charge, but please let us know about the numbers by registering, as the Cathedral has limited seating capacity.
