This premier Jr. Livestock Show event features seasoned judges, tons of learning opportunities, and brag-worthy awards. Hereās what youāll need to know to ace the show:
āØEvent Highlights & Schedule
The Livestock Judging Contest takes place in the Beef Show Barn under the expert supervision of Adam and Rebecca Mendoza.
ā°Here's what's planned:
7:00ā8:00 AM ā Check-In
8:00ā8:15 AM ā Contest Overview
8:30 AMā12:30 PM ā Judging (12 classes + reasons depending on division)
12:30 PM ā Lunch (Provided!)
1:00ā1:30 PM ā Reasons Preparation
1:45 PM ā Oral Reasons & Placings, followed by critiques and awards. Awards usually start about 5:00 PM.
š§āāļøContest divisions and guidelines:
Junior (ages 5ā13): 12 classes + 1 set of reasons
Senior (ages 14ā18): 12 classes + 4 sets of reasons
College (junior/senior colleges): 12 classes + 6 sets of reasons
š©Dress-wise: You'll be in a covered, but possibly unheated areaāso dress professionally and be prepared for variable comfort.

ā³ Entries close on September 15, 2025ādonāt wait until the last minute! Make sure your entry is in on time to be part of this amazing event.
šHelpful Tips & Reminders
Check-in begins 7:00 AM, and contest orientation kicks off at 8:00 AM. Plan to arrive early so you donāt miss anything!
šļøBring a notebook or clipboard for notes during judgingātheyāre allowed during preparation, but discouraged during oral reasons.
šµElectronic devices (phones, tablets, calculators) are strictly prohibited during the event.
šAll classes are judged from a distance (10ā30 feet for cattle). Handling sheep and goats may or may not be allowed.
šAwards and critiques will be shared at the endādonāt miss your moment to learn and celebrate!
