Covenant Concert Series III features the musical stylings of local area flutist Christina Condon and pianist Joe Severyn!Christina Condon is a free-lance woodwind specialist and maintains a competitive flute and
clarinet studio in Beavercreek, Ohio and Odessa, Florida with her students placing at the top of
their school ensembles, regional honor bands, and orchestras. Her studio flute ensembles have
been recognized for their skill and use of extended techniques. Christina’s flute students have sat
principal flute in the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Springfield Youth Symphony, and
Middletown Youth Symphony, and also played flute/piccolo in the Tampa Metropolitan Youth
Orchestras and in the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra. They have also won and placed in
several national flute competitions and have been accepted into top music programs across the
country. Prior to returning to Ohio, Christina played flute 3/piccolo with the Tampa Bay
Symphony and also performed as flute soloist with the orchestra for the world premiere
performance of the Tassone Rhapsody for Flute and Orchestra.
In addition to her private studio, Christina teaches clarinet at Stivers School for the Arts,
performs flutes/clarinets/saxes for musical theatre, assists school programs with their sectional
needs for winds, and has previously directed the New Horizons Band Tampa, assisted with the
University of Dayton New Horizons Band, and taught choir at Carroll High School. In her free
time, Christina enjoys cycling and traveling with her husband Bill and they provide a cushy life
for their furry felines.
Joe Severyn serves as the organist and pianist at Grace United Methodist Church. He has worked as a church musician at various churches in Dayton, Cincinnati, and western Pennsylvania. He has also served as a collaborative pianist and accompanist at Wright State University, the University of Dayton, Stivers School for the Arts, Grove City College, and private voice, string, and woodwind studios in the Dayton area.
Joe holds a Service Playing Certificate from the American Guild of Organists, a Master of Humanities (Emphasis in Music) from Wright State University, and a Bachelor of Music from Grove City College. His instructors have included Charles Moore, Terri Konzen, Richard Konzen, Jackson Leung, and Yun Kim. He has performed in masterclasses by John Weaver, Adrienne Danrich, Morten Lauridsen, Larry Combs, and Stephen Schwartz.
Joe daylights in programming QA at Reynolds and Reynolds, and enjoys running, visiting breweries, board games, and hiking and camping with his wife Trina and their two miniature schnauzers Frankie and Forrest.
