Join us in the Courtyard of Saughton Park & Gardens - we are back again for more high-energy outdoor ceilidh dancing.
Energetic traditional Scottish ceilidh dancing to the music of Deoch 'n' Dorus Ceilidh Band.
At every Laldie Ceilidhs event, the request to the musicians is to pump up the energy. Let's make it intense, relentless, sweaty and fun.
Doors open 3.30pm. Dancing from 4pm. Best to arrive before the dancing starts, particularly beginners.
If needed, dances will be demonstrated, walked through and called - aiming to suit the overall mix of people attending. Newbies can follow and copy experienced dancers. The emphasis is on enjoyment and continuity more than getting the dance steps perfect. We laugh at our mistakes.
Practical Stuff:
There will be a supply of drinking water. Please bring your own water bottle to cut down on waste. Please do not bring any glass along and please take any waste home with you.
The Courtyard is a lovely big space for dancing. It was refurbished around 2018 with a new bitumen macadam surface - it is like a newly laid road. We had a ceilidh here last summer, the surface was damp and it was impressively forgiving for dancing. Training shoes are recommended.
Be aware that there will be limited seating.
There are toilets at the venue.
Ceilidh dancing is pretty inclusive and fun for everybody. All are welcome. Just be conscious that our ceilidhs are usually energetic, even a bit boisterous.
Weather Stuff:
Historically, it doesn't actually rain very much in Edinburgh. Who knows what's going on with the weather this year? There must be a chance we might need to call off the ceilidh for bad weather. Here's how we work it. We will check the forecasts and make a decision on the morning of the event about going ahead. If it looks like it will be too dreich/ inclement we will call it off and announce the cancellation. If we cancel the event in this way, we will make 100% ticket refunds, including ticketing fees. On the other hand, if the forecast in the morning is reasonable then we will go ahead as planned and in this case there won't be refunds, even if the weather turns against us.
Except for event cancellation, tickets are generally non-refundable, unless you can come up with a truly exceptional and entertaining reason.
