This talk will explore the connections between Winnipeg and County Down in Ireland. The histories of Manitoba's settler colonial agents, such as Viscount Wolseley and George Young, will also be discussed. We will see how the colonization of Ireland led to the creation of a hub for extending settler colonialism, and will explore the global connections between India, the Caribbean, Ireland and Manitoba.Speaker: Kerry Sinanan, Department of English, University of Winnipeg
