About this Event
This CPD event provides an opportunity to explore how reasonable adjustments meets unmet needs and how disabilities present themselves in the therapy room. There will be a focus on the importance of self-care for those who work therapeutically with clients. This event will provide a valuable opportunity for those who are practitioners or students working in the mental health or counselling field. Given the subject matter this event is only appropriate for adults over the age of nineteen years and may include information of a sensitive nature. This CPD event may be counted towards the requirements of professional bodies such as the BACP and UKCP.
The speaker, Ellen O’Malley, is an experienced practitioner who has experience of working with children, young people and adults. She specialises in working with trauma, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and self-harm. Ellen will be exploring the challenges working in field for those therapists who have special needs. Making a special guest appearance will be Gandalf, Ellen’s therapy alert dog. There will be an opportunity for a question-and-answer session after the lecture.
