*Please note this training is for staff members who will undertake the role of Council Officer with Adult Support and Protection cases.
This session will explore the skills, knowledge and duties required of a Council Officer, working within the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) 2007 Act
Learning outcomes:
- Explore the duties, powers and role of a Council Officer as defined within the Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007
- Explore and discuss the Adult Support & Protection Legal Framework and the crossover with other legislation
- Explore the link between adult’s capacity, consent and compliance
- Examine the concept of Defensible Decision Making
- Discuss the role of Advocacy within Adult Support & Protection
- Discuss the concept of Investigative Interview
- Consider the role of the Second Person and how this role supports the Council Officer
- Explore the need for Risk Assessment and Risk Management Plans
- Discuss the purpose of the Case Conference and expectations
- Examine the need for Protection Plans and their contents
- Review the purpose and application process of Protection Orders
Venue:
Training will take place at West Lothian Civic Centre. The training will take place over 2 days; 9am to 4pm.
Refreshments will not be provided during the session. There are nearby facilities for you to purchase teas/coffees and lunch where required.
