Council 577 will be hosting a breakfast on Sunday, February 8 from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. The breakfast will include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, biscuits & gravy, breakfast potatoes, fruit, coffee, orange juice and milk. The cost is $12.00 for adults, $5.00 for children under 12 and free for children under 5. Proceeds from the Council 577 February Breakfast will support the Good Samaritan Inn in Decatur.
The Good Samaritan Inn serves a nutritious meal to 150-250 food insecure individuals in our community 365 days a year with their Noon Meal Program. Over the past year, the Good Samaritan has seen a steady rise in the number of people looking for meals and support. The organization relies entirely on local generosity to sustain its mission.
Another program of the Good Samaritan is the Mercy Gardens, which grows fresh, local produce on six acres in Decatur that enhances Good Samaritan’s Noon Meal and also supports partner food pantries including Northeast Community Fund, Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, and Crossing Healthcare.
