About this Event
Often known as Bayeux stitch, laid and couched work was used all over Europe throughout the middle ages, often for very large pieces of embroidery/ Learn this fun easy technique using naturally dyed wool. There will be a choice of simple designs on the day, including dragons and mad medieval rabbits.
The Bayeux stitch is an Anglo-Saxon variation of an ancient technique called the laid work. The Bayeux Stitch is economical in terms of the threads used as it leaves little thread on the reverse of the fabric. While applying this stitch on embroidery, the patterns were outlined with the Stem Stitch first.
£20 materials fee to be paid in cash on the day
