A young member of our community, Roya Snyder, a 1st grader at Lester Park Elementary, recently received a life-saving heart transplant in February. However, the transplant journey is not over for this sweet 7-year-old. Throughout Roya’s lifetime, she will need numerous follow-up clinic visits, anti-rejection medications, and possibly additional transplants. Roya’s heart transplant-related expenses continue to be incurred even though her transplant has already happened.During this unprecedented time for the Snyder family, they have asked our wonderful community and the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) for support and guidance. COTA helps families who are facing a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA funds are used for transplant-related expenses for Roya, and COTA’s services are provided free of charge. The COTA for Roya’s Hope community campaign, including numerous local volunteers, is currently organizing a Family Walk for Roya on Saturday, May 18, 2024 along Duluth’s Lake Walk starting at Duluth East High School.
