Cosmic Chronicles: Stars from Birth to Death

Abstract: Embark on a celestial odyssey in "Cosmic Chronicles" a captivating public talk that unravels the elemental story of the Universe. Starting at the very beginning, we'll explore the mysterious origins of the elements, unveiling the cosmic processes that forged the fundamental building blocks of reality. Journeying through the cosmos, we'll then delve into the fascinating discovery of stars, uncovering the celestial nurseries in which these luminous giants are born. What are stars made of? How long do they live? How do they die? These questions will be answered as we decode the elemental composition that gives each star its unique identity.
The talk will illuminate the various chapters of a star's life, from birth to demise. Stellar explosions, both from solitary and binary stars, take centre stage, showcasing the dazzling fireworks that punctuate the cosmic landscape and disperse elements far and wide. As we traverse the epochs of time, we'll explore the interconnectedness of multiple generations of stars, each playing a crucial role in the cosmic drama. The narrative culminates in the chemical evolution of our Galaxy and the Universe itself, unveiling the intricate dance of stars and elements that has shaped the cosmos into the mesmerizing tapestry we observe today. While the creation of real stars on Earth is restricted by considerations of health, safety, and our overall survival, I will demonstrate an alternative approach—creating stars in the virtual realm. In this presentation, I'll showcase how you can engage in this cosmic endeavour from the comfort of your home or within educational settings such as schools. By harnessing the power of computer simulations, we can unlock the fascinating process of star formation and explore the wonders of the universe without compromising our well-being and existence.
